FAAC Welding & Fabrication: The Irving Owner’s Guide

We stock, weld, and install FAAC-compatible mounting brackets, hinge reinforcements, gate leaf repairs, and custom fabrication for residential FAAC swing and slide operators. Most FAAC welding and fabrication jobs in Irving run between $240 and $680 installed, with same-day service available when the failure is a broken weld on a hinge post or a cracked operator mounting plate. You’ll typically discover the problem as a gate that suddenly sags, a weld that’s visibly cracked, or an operator that’s bolted to a plate that now flexes under load.

FAAC operators are built well, but the steel around them often isn’t. We see the same failure pattern across Irving neighborhoods: a gate that was installed in 2015 or earlier, a zinc-plated bracket that finally broke at the weld, and an operator that still runs fine while the metal around it gives up. The good news is that this is usually a repair, not a replacement.

Which FAAC Models This Applies To

Our welding and fabrication work covers the full range of FAAC swing and slide operators common in Irving: the 400, 412, 415, 770, S800, and C720 series. The compatibility point that matters is the mounting geometry, not the model number. FAAC uses specific bolt patterns on their operator base plates, and the S800 series in particular has a wider mounting footprint than the older 400-series. We measure before we weld, every time.

On the parts side, you have a real decision to make. FAAC OEM brackets and hinge kits are priced higher and typically ship in 3 to 7 business days. Quality aftermarket equivalents in stainless or heavier-gauge steel often cost 30 to 40 percent less, and in many cases we consider them an upgrade. We’ll show you both options, in writing, and let you choose. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with FAAC, which means we’re free to recommend the part that fits your gate and your budget rather than the one that ships with the brand logo on the box.

Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
  • Gate sags at the hinge side. The weld at the top hinge has stretched or cracked, and the gate is now pulling away from the post. You’ll see a gap that wasn’t there a month ago.
  • Operator mounting plate flexes or vibrates. A broken weld under the operator lets the whole unit rock during travel. The motor still sounds fine, but the mounting steel is working against it.
  • Visible rust line along a weld bead. This is water getting into a cracked weld. In Irving’s heat and humidity cycle, a hairline crack becomes a rust-stained break faster than people expect.
  • Gate scrapes the driveway or jams mid-travel. The leaf has shifted because a weld let go. The operator is now fighting the gate instead of moving it cleanly.
  • Loud pop or snap when opening. That’s a weld failing under tension. The gate may still move, but it’s now held by fewer attachment points than it was designed for.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what we charge in Irving, in writing, before we strike an arc:

  • Hinge post weld repair: $240 - $380, including grinding out the old weld, rewelding, and a rust-inhibiting primer pass
  • Cracked operator mounting plate repair or replacement: $180 - $340, depending on whether the plate can be salvaged or needs to be cut and replaced
  • Custom bracket fabrication (FAAC-specific bolt pattern): $280 - $680, including steel, cutting, welding, and a finished coat to match the existing hardware
  • On-site mobile welding dispatch: included in the above pricing; we bring the welder to you

The price you’re quoted is the price you pay. We hand you a written scope before any metal is cut, and the final invoice will match that number. All welding work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if a weld we made fails within a year, we return and fix it at no charge. No argument, no fee.

DIY or Call Us?

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely do a few things before calling us. Wipe down the weld areas and look for cracks with a flashlight. Note whether the gate shifts when you push on it by hand while the operator is disengaged. Take photos from a few angles. What you shouldn’t do is fire up a hardware-store welder and try to fix a gate that weighs 400 pounds or more. A gate under tension carries stored energy, and a bad weld on a gate hinge can fail without warning while someone is standing under it. We’re not saying this to scare you off. We’re saying it because a gate that falls on a person is not a theoretical risk.

If the crack is small, the gate is square, and no operator is involved, an experienced welder can handle it. If any of those three things isn’t true, call us at (817) 510-4183. We’ll send a technician who knows FAAC geometry and who won’t leave until the gate moves clean and the documentation is in your hand.
