Elite Welding & Fabrication: The Irving Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Elite-compatible welding and fabrication parts across Irving, and most bracket, hinge, and weld-repair jobs run between $180 and $650 installed, depending on whether we’re repairing the existing steel or replacing a failed component. Same-day service is available for most Elite welding failures, and we carry common Elite SL3000 and SL4000 series brackets, gate frame sections, and hinge assemblies on the truck. The way most Irving owners discover a welding problem is simple: the gate starts sagging, dragging on the driveway, or making a grinding sound at the hinge, and close inspection shows a cracked weld, a separated bracket, or rust that has chewed through the frame.

Elite gates are built with heavy-gauge steel, but Texas weather does not negotiate. In Irving, we see two failure patterns repeatedly. First, the bottom hinge bracket fatigues from the constant load of a 300 to 600 pound gate leaf swinging thousands of times a month. Second, moisture works into the factory welds at the frame corners, especially where the pickets meet the bottom rail, and rust expands the joint until the weld pops. When that weld fails, the gate does not fall off immediately. It sags. It scrapes. It pulls on the opener until the motor overheats or the limit switch burns out trying to compensate.
Which Elite Models This Applies To
Our Elite welding and fabrication work covers the full range of Elite gate operators and the steel they mount to, but the parts we most commonly service in Irving are tied to the SL3000 and SL4000 series slide and swing gate operators, along with Elite’s Mirage and Titan gate frames. The operator model matters less than the steel it drives. The bracket that bolts to the gate leaf, the hinge posts, and the frame rails are where welding actually happens.
Identifying which part failed starts with the operator label, but the more useful information is the gate’s weight and swing direction. Elite slide gates run on a track or a cantilever system, and the drive chain bracket is welded or bolted to the gate frame. Swing gates use electric linear actuators or articulated arms, and the mounting bracket takes repeated lateral stress. Before ordering any part, measure the gate leaf height and width, note whether it’s a single or double leaf, and check the existing bracket for a stamped number, usually on the side that faces the gate. Not every Elite bracket is stamped, which is why we photograph and measure before quoting. OEM Elite brackets are powder-coated and match the factory hole pattern exactly. Quality aftermarket equivalents exist, but we have seen mismatched hole spacing cause a bracket to sit 3mm off, which translates to a visible lean at the far end of a 14-foot gate within six months.
Signs Your Elite Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

- The gate sags toward the free end. This almost always means a failed weld at the hinge side or a bent hinge post. The fix is usually re-welding the hinge tab and reinforcing the post, not replacing the whole gate.
- You can see daylight through a cracked weld. Surface rust along the weld line is the tell. Once a crack starts, vibration from every open/close cycle widens it, and the gate gets louder as the crack propagates.
- The gate scrapes or gouges the driveway. A sagging frame brings the gate’s leading edge down onto the concrete. By the time you see gouge marks in Irving’s clay-heavy driveways, the hinge weld has already failed, not just weakened.
- The opener struggles or reverses mid-cycle. A gate that’s dragging puts extra load on the motor, so the current draw climbs and the opener’s force sensor thinks something is blocking the path. We see this often on Elite SL3000 installs where a cracked bracket adds enough friction to trip the safety reverse.
- The gate leans toward the post or away from it. A plumb gate stays true through its swing. If yours leans, the post might be shifting in the soil, or the welded hinge barrels are egged out from years of wear. Irving’s expansive clay is hard on posts; a post that shifts in summer after heavy rain is a structural problem, not a hinge adjustment problem.
Before
AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Irving, most Elite welding repairs land in these ranges:
- Hinge bracket repair or replacement: $180-$320, including cutting out the old bracket, welding the new one, and repainting the seam.
- Gate frame crack repair (per crack): $150-$250, with the area ground clean, welded, and sealed against rust.
- Drive chain bracket replacement for slide gates: $220-$400, depending on whether the bracket must be fabricated to match a non-standard mounting point.
- Full hinge set replacement (top and bottom, both leaves): $350-$650, including reinforcing plates if the post steel is thin.
Every quote is written before we touch the gate, and the price you approve is the price you pay. We do not bill for surprises discovered mid-job unless you approve the change first. Each repair includes a photo log of the failed weld, the repaired joint, and the part number installed, filed in your job record. The welding work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if a repair fails within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?

If you want to diagnose the problem before calling, there are two safe checks. First, look at every weld line on the hinge side with a flashlight. A hairline crack in the paint that follows the weld line is the earliest sign. Second, place a level on the top rail with the gate closed. If the bubble sits more than a quarter inch from center, something has shifted. Both checks take ten minutes and give us useful information when you call.
What we do not recommend is welding this yourself. Gate frames and hinge brackets are under constant tension from the gate’s own weight, and a weld that fails on an Elite swing gate can drop a 400-pound leaf onto a person or a car. Welding also requires the gate to be braced perfectly level before the torch comes out, and a guess-and-check approach leaves you with a gate that’s welded crooked. The same goes for grinding and cutting: kickback and sparks around a gas line or irrigation line is not a risk worth taking. Call (817) 510-4183, tell us the model and what you found, and we’ll quote it in writing before we start.
FAQs
A proper weld on clean, prepped steel typically lasts 10 to 15 years in Irving’s climate, but factory welds on some Elite gates fail earlier because the original paint did not fully seal the joint. We grind, weld, and seal every repair with rust-inhibiting primer so the repair outlasts the original joint.
Most frame cracks can be welded and reinforced without replacing the gate, as long as the surrounding steel is not rusted through. We will tell you plainly if a crack is beyond saving, and we’ll show you the measurement that led to that call. Call (817) 510-4183 for an honest assessment at no cost.
Most hinge bracket replacements and single crack repairs are finished in one visit, typically two to four hours including bracing, welding, and sealing. If we need to fabricate a non-standard bracket, that usually adds a day in our Irving shop.
We stock common Elite hinge brackets, drive chain brackets, and reinforcing plate stock on our trucks serving Irving, so most repairs do not wait on parts. For less common frame sections, we fabricate to match the existing steel same week. We also stock parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls operators, so a mixed-brand property is not a problem.
If your Elite gate is sagging, scraping, or sounding rough at the hinge, call (817) 510-4183. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Elite, and we’ll give you a written price before any work starts. Name what you found. Name what it costs. Name what you left behind. That’s how Adrian Vance has run every job since this company started in 2014.
