Before you order anything, look at the plate geometry: Elite slide rollers are often marked with an etching on the bearing housing, and the swing hinges have pin diameters of either 3/4 inch or 1 inch depending on the panel weight rating.

• Visible sag at the latch end. On a closed Elite swing gate, the latch stile sits 1/2 to 3/4 inch lower than the hinge stile. A gate should sit level. That drop is the hinge pins wearing into ovals, and every cycle after this point accelerates the wear because the panel weight is no longer distributed evenly across both hinge points.
• The operator trips its obstruction sensor and reverses. In Irving, when the clay soil heaves, the gate post moves a fraction of an inch and the hinge alignment shifts.
