BFT Welding & Fabrication: The Irving Owner’s Guide

If your BFT gate has a cracked hinge, a torn gate leaf, or a motor bracket that’s pulled loose from its welds, we stock and fabricate the replacement parts for most BFT residential swing and slide models. Installed welding and fabrication work on BFT gates in Irving typically runs $220 to $680 depending on whether we’re repairing existing steel in place or cutting out and replacing a failed section. Most repair welds and bracket replacements are completed the same day we arrive. The way most owners find us is the same story: the gate started dragging, then binding, then the motor tripped its breaker because the physical structure was fighting the operator long before any circuit board failed.

We’re an independent gate repair company in Irving. We’re not affiliated with BFT. We work on their equipment every week, and we keep the common failure points in stock or fabricate them in our truck.

Key takeaways:

  • We weld and fabricate BFT gate components in Irving: hinges, motor brackets, leaf repairs, post repairs, and slide-track reinforcement
  • Most BFT welding repairs run $220 to $680 installed, quoted in writing before we strike an arc
  • We stock common BFT hinge and bracket patterns and fabricate non-stocked pieces same-day
  • Every job leaves you with photos of the welds, the part numbers if we used stock, and a written record of what was done

Which BFT Models This Applies To

The welding and fabrication work we do covers BFT’s residential and light-commercial line. That includes the Deimos swing-arm operators, the Phobos and Ares in-ground swing motors, and the sliding-gate line where the Tiziano and Rigel models appear most often in Irving driveways. What matters for fabrication isn’t just the model name. It’s the physical gate that BFT motor is bolted to.

Here’s the compatibility reality: BFT sells motors, control boards, and the arm hardware. The hinge, the bracket plate, the gate frame itself, the post cap, the slide track – those are almost always built by a gate fabricator, not by BFT. So when a weld fails on a BFT gate in Irving, the part you need usually isn’t a BFT part number at all. It’s a fabricated steel component sized to your gate and your operator. That’s where the OEM-versus-aftermarket question shifts: for the motor internals, we use BFT components. For the steel, we’re the manufacturer. We measure, cut, weld, grind, and paint to match. The only time you’re buying a branded BFT weldment is when the failure is inside the arm itself or at a factory bracket, and in those cases we order the exact BFT part rather than modifying what the motor expects.

How to identify what you have: the operator model is on a silver or white label on the motor housing, usually facing the property interior. The gate hinge measurement is the distance from the post face to the center of the hinge pin, and the leaf thickness is measured at the top rail or mid-rail. If you can get us those three things over the phone – model label, hinge offset, leaf thickness – we can usually tell you what a repair will cost before we roll a truck. Adrian Vance has spent years running these calls across Irving, including the Las Colinas corridor where mixed residential and commercial gates mean no two failures are quite the same.

Signs Your BFT Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

Signs Your BFT Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
  • The gate sags visibly at the latch end. The top hinge weld has stretched or cracked, and the gate is now hanging from the bottom hinge alone. You’ll see a diagonal gap at the top latch side that was never there before.
  • The motor runs but the gate shudders partway through travel. A cracked weld at the motor bracket lets the operator push against flexing steel instead of solid gate. The motor still works fine; the structure it’s mounted to has gone soft.
  • You hear a metallic creak or pop when the gate changes direction. That’s a fatigue crack opening and closing under load. On Irving gates with heavy wrought-iron leaves, the top rail near the hinge is the most common place for this to start.
  • The gate post itself moves when the gate moves. The post is either cracked at the base or the weld between the post and its mounting plate has failed. A moving post will eventually pull the hinge bolts loose, and the repair gets larger every month it waits.
  • The slide gate jumps the track or rides up on one roller. The track or the roller plate has lost its weld or the concrete anchor has cracked. The BFT motor keeps driving, but the gate has stopped traveling straight, and that bind will destroy the operator gearbox over time.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Irving, our welded repairs on BFT gates fall into three price bands. A straightforward hinge replacement or crack repair runs $220 to $340, including grinding, welding, and paint touch-up. A motor bracket replacement or reinforcement plate runs $280 to $450, which includes removing the operator, repairing or replacing the mounting steel, and realigning the operator to factory travel limits before we leave. A full gate leaf rebuild – cutting out a rotted or fatigue-cracked section and replacing it with fresh steel – runs $450 to $680 depending on how much of the leaf we’re replacing and whether the leaf has to come off the post to do it right.

BFT Welding & Fabrication Work Typical Installed Price in Irving
Hinge or crack repair, single point $220 – $340
Motor bracket replacement or reinforcement $280 – $450
Gate leaf section rebuild or replacement $450 – $680
Post repair or re-weld at base (in place) $260 – $400
Slide track straightening and re-weld $300 – $520

The price you’re quoted is the price you pay. That’s written down and handed to you before any work starts, under the Haven Standard Clause 1. Every weld repair includes grinding the repair area clean, welding with appropriate rod for the gate’s steel, and a documented photo record of the work. If we installed a stock bracket, you get the part number and the manufacturer. If we fabricated the piece on site, you get photos of the measurements and the finished weld. On any weld repair, the 365-Day Done Right Promise applies: if a weld we made fails within a year, we come back and make it right at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely inspect a BFT gate yourself. Put eyes on every hinge, the motor bracket, the posts, and the slide track. Look for rust lines that run through a weld, cracks in the paint that form a straight line, and gaps where steel should be touching steel. That’s all fine to do with the gate closed and the motor unplugged. What you should not attempt yourself is welding on a gate that carries a motor. The electrical risk is real: a welding current through a gate with a connected BFT operator can fry the control board, the limit switches, or both. The structural risk is bigger – a weld that looks fine on the surface and isn’t structurally sound can fail under the gate’s full travel load, and a falling iron gate leaf is hundreds of pounds of hazard. Pull the breaker and check. Leave the arc to someone who welds gates every week. Call us at (817) 510-4183 and the price is in your hand before we ever put on a hood.
